Charlotte's Rainbow

Charlotte was very proud of her rainbow mobile. She did all of the coloring herself and I helped with cutting and assembly.

Sweet Girls

Early Halloween

My mom brought ugly teeth for everyone and the kids loved it. How can anything so gross cause such joy?

Jerry wore his all day.

Charlotte's could barely fit into her mouth.

Levi says he doesn't have to go to the dentist anymore because his teeth are already ruined:)

The Pinewood Derby

The kids are ready for the action, but have to eat dinner first.

Jerry wanted to show how the track works.

The family car is orange and Jerry III's is the red, white, and blue.

Here are our cars on the track. Jerry's car won one heat out of the four his car ran. Unfortunately, the family car was a bust and finished 3rd and last every time:(

Cousin's birthday

Saturday was such a busy day. We traveled first to LA for my sister's son's birthday. The kids are always so excited to play with their cousins and love birthdays (of course). We then had to travel back home to attend the pinewood derby. Whew, I'm tired.
Joshua turned 9.

Caleb will be 5 this month.

The Road Less Taken

by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Building our Pinewood Derby cars!

Our ward is hosting a Derby and everyone is allowed to enter. Our family car is being worked on by Levi, Charlotte and Dad and they are having alot of fun deciding how to make their car.
Levi decides to paint delicately.

Charlotte loves to paint!

Dad does too!

Jerry is working on his official Pinewood Derby car for Cub Scouts. Saturday will be the Derby and he's very excited. He says he hopes he wins:)

The girl's first haircuts.

Charlotte and Georgiana had their first haircuts yesterday. Dad did a great job and they look so cute. The only problem is they look so much older:)

Finished Volcanos

All of the kids were excited about painting their volcanoes. They all did the majority of painting by themselves. The kids were so excited to be using real paint instead of watercolors and they really got into covering the mountain with lava.
Levi's on the left, Charlotte's on the right.
Jerry's masterpiece.

Volcano Construction

Well, the day has arrived that has been widely anticipated. The day for volcano construction has finally come. Jerry just jumped right in and designed his own volcano, while Levi and Charlotte's spirits dampened when they experienced the feel of paper mache. Levi was convinced to make a go of it and seemed proud of his work. I finished Charlottes' and Jerry needed little help. He was the most enthusiastic about his accomplishment.

Ewww, gross!

Afraid to touch.

A busy bee.

The Earth's Core

Today we learned about what's inside the earth and then made models of it with clay. We also talked about how the Holy Ghost is like a fire and what he does to help us.

Here are the characters-

Here are the kids in their costumes for the adventure. We made whips out of yarn this morning and Charlotte wouldn't make one because she says Marion doesn't use a whip. She does have a gun though and she's not afraid to use it:)

Indiana Nelson and the River of Gold!

The adventure is here. The boys as Indiana Nelson and the girls are Marion Nelson. They will be exploring the history of California this year and as Indy they will be finding and making objects to go in our own museum. The upstairs bedroom has been made into a schoolroom.
