Fishing Firsts

At a family meeting we decided that learning to fish was something that we wanted to do this year so we finally got out for our first attempt. As expected the little girls became bored and their favorite part seemed to be eating and drinking in their camp chairs. The boys lasted longer especially with the incentive of earning a fishing belt loop.
I think we had a good first day even though we didn't get any bites. We all have to learn how to bait for the fish in the lake and be patient. The kids just didn't expect patience to take so long.

Artwork

This is Levi's collage. After seeing Charlotte do one, he had to as well.

Jerry's minuteman sculpture.

Making Necklaces

The girls were feeling left out that the kids always get to do art projects for school so we decided to make necklaces.
I was surprised how methodical they both were as they patiently strung the yarn.
The end result was beautiful and they want bracelets to match.

More Scouts

I know it seems that all we do is scouting stuff, but since we have pack meetings every month and the boys are always getting more awards there will be a large amount of these posts.

Levi has decided that he wants to earn more awards than Jerry has so this month was the first meeting where the competition has gone public. They both earned so many that the leaders had to tell everyone about the challenge.
One of the things I love about pack meetings is that they include the whole family. The girls love coming and playing games and doing just a little bit of what the boys are doing.
This is Levi's first time participating in the flag ceremony. He knew exactly what he was doing and had no problem directing his partner.

Jerry's Artwork

This is a drawn version of a cross-stitch sampler. Jerry's favorite subject is art and can usually be found doing different projects.

This is a gate in front of a federal building from Jerry's lesson on Federal architecture.

This is one of my favorites. Jerry calls it "Levi in a Tuxedo" and he is holding his two favorite things: pizza and video game controller.

Still life done in oil pastels.

No More Broken Crayons

Thanks to an idea we saw on Brandy's blog we were able to clear out the broken crayons from our tub. It has now become a treasure hunt on who can find the most crayon pieces throughout the house.
